👉Make your marketing memorable with the Rule of Three

👉What is the Rule of Three?
The Rule of Three is a powerful marketing principle that leverages the human brain's natural tendency to seek & remember patterns in groups of three.
As a solopreneur, applying this rule to your marketing strategy can help simplify your message, making it more memorable and persuasive.

The Rule of Three - 3 is the magic number when it comes to solopreneur marketing!
🧠 HOOK — Why Everything Feels Better in Threes
Ever notice how the best stuff comes in threes?
“Snap, crackle, pop.”
“Stop, drop, roll.”
“Get. Shit. Done.”
It’s not random — it’s Psychology.
We remember things in groups of three because our brains crave patterns.
Three feels balanced. Complete. Easy to recall.
And in marketing, that’s gold dust
⚡ WHY IT WORKS
As a solopreneur, you’re not just selling a service — you’re selling clarity.
The Rule of 3 helps you cut through the noise.
👉Too much info? People tune out.
👉Too little? They don’t get it.
Three? Just right.
It’s the storytelling sweet spot that makes your message stick like superglue.
💡 HOW TO USE IT IN YOUR MARKETING
1️Three Benefits — The Power Trio
Instead of overwhelming potential clients with a long list of features, focus on highlighting three key benefits of your service. This makes your value proposition easy to remember and communicate
For example, I help Solopreneurs:
👉 Save time.
👉 Sell more.
👉 Stress less.
Short, sharp, unforgettable!
🎯Actionable tip:
Use these three benefits consistently on your website's home page, in your email marketing & across your social media profiles.
2️ Three-Part Storytelling — The Magic Flow
People connect with stories, and a three-part story is an effective way to organise a narrative. The typical structure is:
Problem: Identify a clear and relatable problem that your client faces. This sets the scene and creates an emotional hook.
Agitate/Conflict: Intensify the problem by highlighting the pain points and consequences of not solving it. This builds tension and shows you understand your audience's struggle.
Solve/Resolution: Present your service as the solution that leads to a positive transformation. This completes the story and delivers the tangible benefits.
Example for a business coach:
Problem: "My business was stuck. I was working 80-hour weeks, but my revenue was flat."
Conflict: "I was burnt out, on the verge of quitting, and watching my passion for my work disappear."
Resolution: "After implementing a new strategy, I now have a clear roadmap and a sustainable work-life balance."
🎯Actionable tip:
As a solopreneur., you can use this formula to frame client testimonials, case studies, or even your own journey.
3️Three-Word Slogan — The Sticky Stuff
A three-word slogan packs a punch! This is because it’s concise, memorable & impactful. It forces you to distill your brand's essence into its most powerful form.
Many successful brands use this principle to leave a lasting impression.
A famous example is Nike’s : “Just do it.”
And my brand slogan is obviously Get Shit Done – the same name as my newsletter!
To create your own slogan, ask yourself: What are the three most important actions or feelings my service provides?
Examples for a solopreneur:
For a freelance graphic designer: Design. Elevate. Brand.
For a personal trainer: Strength. Stamina. Results.
For a web developer: Code. Launch. Grow.
🎯Actionable tip:
Test a few options with your network and see which one resonates best. The perfect slogan will be simple, impactful, and easy to repeat.
