So this week Britain is experiencing ridiculous temperatures that would normally be described as "a pleasant Spring day" by anyone living in Spain.

But while Britain was busy losing its collective mind over a few days of sunshine, it reminded me of something important about marketing.

Most copy fails for exactly the same reason most Brits fail in a heatwave. It’s missing something essential.

The most persuasive AKA SHIT HOT COPY speaks to THREE things:

🧠 The Brain
❤️ The Heart
👀 The Eyes

How to write killer copy

Miss ONE and things start getting uncomfortable.

So, let's break it down.

🧠 THE BRAIN: GIVE THEM A REASON TO BUY

The Brain is the sensible one. The Brain is standing in front of the fan reading comparison websites.

The Brain wants evidence. Proof. Logic. Benefits. Results.

This is why features alone don't sell.

Nobody cares that your software has 37 integrations.

They care that it saves them five hours a week and stops them wanting to launch their laptop into the North Sea.

Nobody buys coaching because it includes six Zoom calls.

They buy because they want more clients.

The Brain doesn't buy features.

The Brain buys outcomes.

🔥🔥Get Shit Done HOT Tip:

Whenever you write a feature, ask: "So what?"

Then answer it.

That's usually where the real selling point is hiding.

❤️ THE HEART: GIVE THEM A DESIRE TO BUY

Now let's talk about The Heart.

The Heart is the reason people buy an ice cream🍦 despite owning a freezer full of ice lollies.

Humans are emotional creatures pretending to be logical ones.

People tell themselves they're buying a product.

They're actually buying: less stress, more confidence, more time, more progress and so on,.

The feeling matters. The transformation matters. The story matters.

Your audience doesn't want a project management tool.

They want to stop waking up at 3am remembering something they forgot.

They don't want copywriting support. They want customers.

The Heart buys the future version of themselves. The product is just the vehicle.

👀 THE EYES: MAKE IT EASY TO CONSUME

Now for the most overlooked part -the eyes.

The eyes decide whether anything gets read at all.

You could write the greatest sales message in human history.

But if it looks like a GCSE essay pasted into a Facebook post, nobody is reading it.

Your audience is scrolling faster than an Argos fan sells out during a heatwave.

They are distracted. Busy. Half-working. Half-looking for excuses not to work.

The Eyes need:

·       Big headlines.

·       Short paragraphs.

·       Whitespace.

·       Visual hierarchy.

·       Clear calls to action.

Your copy shouldn't feel like homework. It should feel effortless.

Because if people have to work hard to understand your message, they won't - they’ll scroll.

QUICK COPY FIXES BEFORE YOU IT TOTALLY MELTS

Don’t let your copy melt as the temperature soars.

Stay cool with these quick copy fixes 👇

🧱 Structural Collapse

  • The Issue: Your headline or introduction is too weak to hold attention.

  • The Fix: Start with a bold, undeniable hook that addresses a specific pain point.

Don’t let your copy melt as the temperature soars!

🏜️ Dehydrated Value Proposition

  • The Issue: You’re listing boring features instead of vivid, high-stakes benefits.

  • The Fix: Show the reader exactly how your product saves them time, money, or stress.

🌫️ Foggy Audience Targeting

  • The Issue: You are trying to talk to everyone, which means you appeal to no one.

  • The Fix: Write directly to one specific ideal customer profile using their exact language.

🛑 Friction and Clutter

  • The Issue: Massive walls of text and confusing Call-to-Actions (CTAs) overwhelm the reader.

  • The Fix: Use short paragraphs, punchy bullet points, and a single, clear action step

💥BONUS: WHY HUMOUR SELLS

Let's address the sweaty elephant🐘 in the room. My BFF AKA Humour.

No, you don't need to become a comedian.

No, you don't need to start every post with: "I’m a Girl Dad."

Humour works because it creates connection.

👉It lowers resistance.

👉It makes people pay attention.

And most importantly...it makes your brand feel HuMaN!

The internet is drowning in generic AI slop.

The solopreneurs that stand out are the ones that sound like real human beings.

A smile or giggle creates more connection than another generic paragraph about "unlocking your potential."

Humour isn't decoration. It's persuasion.

Used well, it helps people remember you.

And remembered businesses get bought from.
