If you want to stand out on LinkedIn and attract your dream clients, you need to show your personality.
This helps to build an emotional connection with your audience.
And it’s really important because we buy from people we know, like and trust.
❌Beige content gets ignored
Nobody wants to read AI generated listicles and generic ‘Delighted to announce’ type shizz.
Personal stories and funny LinkedIn posts will help you stand out from the crowd.
I often use humour in my LinkedIn posts and funnily enough they get the highest engagement AND generate the most leads.
✅Personality is what makes people remember you
Your personality is what gives your content a pulse. Without it, all you’re doing is sharing information and hoping somebody gives a sh*t. They won’t!
But remember that your brand voice must be consistent in ALL your content writing. If you go from being witty to serious to unhinged you’ll confuse your audience and lose trust.
And yes, grammar matters, but you don’t need to be anal about it. If you make the odd typo, who cares and it proves your post wasn’t written by ChatGPT. That said, my custom copywriting GPT, CopyBuddy will help you quickly create human sounding content.
🧲It also attracts the right clients
This is the bit that actually matters.
Your ideal clients are not just choosing someone who can just do the job. They’re choosing someone they trust, someone they like, and someone they can relate to.
When your personality shines through in your content, it acts like a filter and does a lot of the heavy lifting before the DMs even start rolling in.
To use my favourite Marmite analogy, killer content attracts the lovers and repels the haters.
Which saves everyone a lot of time!
Professional doesn’t mean boring 🥱
You don’t need to sound like a boring Corporate Colin to be seen as professional.
But equally showing personality doesn’t mean oversharing your life, cracking jokes all the time and behaving like an unhinged wEiRdO. Unless, of course, you are one and so are your ideal customers!
It just means sounding like a real human being.
Say what you actually think and feel (aka be authentic)
Use a conversational tone, like you’re talking to a mate
Because the second you strip out your personality to sound “more professional”, you don’t sound more credible. You just sound more generic.
⚡Your content should ALSO reflect your positioning
And if you want your content to actually drive sales, personality alone won’t cut it. You also need to make it clear who you ideal customer is, how you solve their pain point and how your approach is different from your competitors.
Brand positioning is the consistent message and feeling people associate with your brand.
When its done well, it makes your marketing easier, your content clearer and your business far more successful. Because people don’t just see you - they understand why you’re the right choice.
💥The simple LinkedIn test
Before you post, ask:
1. Does this sound post like me? (personality)
2. Does this post make it clear what I do and who I help? (positioning)

Killer content shows your personality and reflects your brand positioning
